Bedford Academy of Dance
Exam Information
Although not compulsory, we encourage our pupils to enter Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet exams when we feel they are ready. Exams provide the students with a sense of purpose, motivating them to strive for a higher level of achievement while building confidence and self-belief.

For parents unfamiliar with the exam process, we ask that they recognise this as a serious commitment to their child’s learning. It is our policy that all students preparing for an exam must attend two classes per week for approximately a term and a half before the exam. If this requirement is not met, we reserve the right to withdraw the student from the exam. This ensures that dancers receive expert coaching not only in the syllabus but also in exam work, partner work, and etiquette—all of which are essential for their preparation.

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is a recognised awarding body accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England.
